Maharashtra Cricket Association is pleased to announce the signing of Jalaj Saxena, who joins MCA from the Kerala Cricket Association. A seasoned domestic all-rounder, Saxena arrives with a wealth of experience across India’s domestic circuit and a long track record of match-winning contributions for Kerala in Ranji Trophy and domestic limited-overs competitions.
Saxena has been one of Kerala’s most dependable performers for many seasons. Known for his calm temperament, high cricketing IQ and ability to deliver in pressure situations, he has produced a string of important innings and key bowling performances that have turned matches in Kerala’s favour. Over the years he has been relied upon to stabilise middle-order batting, shepherd innings when required, and provide crucial breakthroughs with the ball — making him a genuine two-way asset for any side.
Highlights of his career with Kerala include numerous match-defining displays in the Ranji Trophy where his contributions with bat and ball have often been central to Kerala reaching competitive totals or bowling opponents out. In limited-overs fixtures he has likewise produced timely knocks and tight bowling spells that controlled the middle overs and created momentum shifts. Importantly, Saxena brings leadership and mentorship qualities: younger players have benefited from his on-field composure and off-field professionalism during training and match preparation.
For MCA, the acquisition of Jalaj Saxena is strategically significant. His experience strengthens depth in both batting and bowling, and his presence in the dressing room will be invaluable for younger MCA academy graduates and emerging players. On the field, his versatility gives team management flexibility in selection and match tactics across formats — especially during multi-day and knockout fixtures where seasoned heads make a difference.
What to expect
Immediate on-field impact through stabilising the middle order and supporting bowling options. Mentoring and development of younger MCA players through shared training, match simulations and practice sessions. Added tactical depth for the MCA side as it navigates upcoming tournaments and the domestic season. MCA welcomes Jalaj Saxena and looks forward to his contribution both on and off the field as the association pushes for strong performances across competitions.
