The U-23 Women’s team of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) etched their name in glory by clinching the prestigious BCCI U-23 Women’s One Day Trophy, marking yet another milestone as Maharashtra Women secured their third BCCI domestic title.
In a high-stakes final against Karnataka, Maharashtra showcased exceptional composure and dominance across all departments to register a convincing 75-run victory.
Batting first, Maharashtra posted an imposing total of 286/8 in 50 overs, built on the foundation of a remarkable innings by Bhavika Ahire, who led from the front with a शानदार 109 runs off 100 balls. Her innings was a perfect blend of composure and controlled aggression, anchoring the team through crucial phases of the match. She was well supported by Ishwari Savkar, who contributed a crucial 61 runs off 62 balls, ensuring the team maintained momentum throughout the innings.
In response, Karnataka faltered under pressure against a disciplined Maharashtra bowling attack and were bowled out for 211 runs, handing Maharashtra a comprehensive victory.
The bowling unit was spearheaded by Akshaya Jadhav, who delivered a match-winning spell, claiming 4 wickets in 9 overs and breaking the backbone of Karnataka’s batting lineup. She was ably supported by Isha Pathare, who picked up 3 wickets in 7.3 overs, sealing the game firmly in Maharashtra’s favour.
For her outstanding century in the final, Bhavika Ahire was adjudged the Player of the Match. She further capped off a phenomenal tournament by being named the Player of the Series, amassing 389 runs in 8 matches, including 1 century and 4 half-centuries, underlining her consistency and match-winning impact.
