Maharashtra Women produced a determined, team-first performance to beat Madhya Pradesh by 12 runs in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy (Elite) final – sealing the state’s first-ever title in this competition and delivering a proud moment for Maharashtra cricket.

Match summary (quick scorecard)

  • Maharashtra: 102/9 (14 overs)
  • Madhya Pradesh: 90/9 (14 overs)
  • Result: Maharashtra won by 12 runs
  • Player of the Match: Tejal Hasabnis (crucial 30 off 24)
  • Key bowling: Shuchi Upadhyay (4/20)

In a low-scoring final played on a sporting Surat surface, Maharashtra built a competitive total through small, disciplined partnerships and smart strike rotation. Tejal Hasabnis’s composed innings in the middle order proved pivotal – her timely boundaries and strike rotation gave the innings much-needed momentum in tight conditions. The bowlers then delivered under pressure: Shuchi Upadhyay’s penetrating spell (four wickets) choked the Madhya Pradesh chase, while tight support spells and sharp fielding prevented the opponents from building meaningful partnerships.

Beyond the headline performances, this win reflected the depth of Maharashtra’s support system – from the coaches and assistant coaches to the bowling coach, strength & conditioning team, physio, video analyst, team manager, and scorers. Anti-doping and player-welfare staff were also on standby throughout the campaign, ensuring that the team could focus fully on performance.

Why this matters ?

This title validates MCA’s long-term investments in the women’s pathway – coaching, talent identification, and district programmes. It is a tangible outcome of sustained development across age groups and signals a rising trajectory for women’s cricket in the state.

What’s next ?

MCA will celebrate the team’s achievement and accelerate initiatives to expand academy access, deepen scouting at district level, and strengthen high-performance support for returning champions. The victory also strengthens Maharashtra’s case for continued investment and visibility in national women’s cricket.
